OREGON
SCIENTIFIC INTRODUCES "TALKING" ELECTRONIC LEARNING
PRODUCTS FOR PRESCHOOLERS
Oregon Scientific, Portland, OR -- Today, children are benefiting
from technology at younger and younger ages. Award-winning Oregon
Scientific is introducing several educational and entertaining
designs for children age three and up in its 2000 line of
electronic learning products. The new line feature brightly
colored toys that will capture young children’s attention, while
also teaching letters, numbers, even time and music in ways
appropriate for this age group. New preschool products include:
Watch N’ Learn
This innovative "talking" watch actually teaches kids
how to tell time. It displays both digital and analog time, so
youngsters can learn to read time both the "new" and
"old-fashioned" ways. When they press a button, the
watch announces the time it shows. Press another button, and it
teaches phonics, as a digital image of the letter/word appears on
its LCD screen, along with entertaining sound effects and
animation. At under $20 retail, brightly colored Watch N’ Learn
makes a smart year-round choice for children age three and up.
Learnington Square
Here’s a learning toy with a difference. Colorful Learnington
Square is an electronic interactive town featuring a school and a
series of familiar shops – grocery, candy, bakery, and music --
plus a functional keyboard. The shops surround a town square and
are staffed by animal characters. There are three additional,
movable characters: a monkey, a panda and a squirrel. As each of
the movable characters is placed into slots in front of the
buildings, the shopkeepers inside introduce themselves, greet
their guests individually by name and have a personalized
"conversation" through which kids learn letters, music,
numbers, colors, shapes, manners and social skills. Switch the
characters, and a new and different exchange begins. This charming
educational game for children age three and up is targeted to
retail at $49.99 and is packaged with a demonstration button.
Alphabet Builder
Designed to encourage pre-school learning, "talking"
Alphabet Builder combines games and learning activities into one
unit. This interactive tabletop product features a cottage with an
LCD-screen as its window, and a lightweight plastic hammer which
children use on plastic nails to locate the correct answers. There
are 10 activities, including building letters, numbers, shapes and
pictures, searching for shapes, counting and playing games.
Designed for age 3 and up, Alphabet Builder is targeted to retail
at $39.99.
